Books

The following is an incomplete listing of books focused on transnational adoption. The books included here mostly focus on historic or academic content – this section does not include memoirs, parenting advice, or “how to adopt” books.

Note that many of the authors have a personal connection to adoption (adoptees or adoptive parents) and the books may include some personal perspectives in addition to the scholarly or investigative content.

Some of these books include domestic transracial U.S. adoption but they are included because they have some focus on transnational adoption. A thorough list of other genres of books on transnational adoption (including memoirs, poetry, children’s books, and fiction) is available at Adoptee Reading.
