In this video, historian Yuri Doolan discusses the ways in which US militarism in Asia and the Pacific led to sending Korean children out of the country for adoption. Doolan’s book, “The First Amerasians: Mixed Race Koreans from Camptowns to America” describes how the concept of the “Amerasian” to describe mixed-race children born as a result of the US involvement in Korea was used to remove thousands of mixed race children from Korean.
